| We are very proud to announce that Karen Smyth from Aran Direct recently won the Tourism & Retail Category Award in the Network Galway Women in Business Awards 2007.
The award was presented by author and actress Claudia Carroll at a ceremony on Friday the 19th October in The Westwood House Hotel.
The annual Women in Business awards are presented to women who have made an outstanding contribution to business life in Galway.
Network Galway president Nuala Wakefield said the night was "a resounding success" and congratulated all the nominees. "The calibre this year was outstanding, which made the judges job difficult but it demonstrates what a diverse and talented membership Network Galway has."
The Tourism & Retail category was sponsored by the Carlton Shearwater Hotel & Spa, Ballinasloe. The other finalists in the Tourism & Retail Category were Sorcha Murray from The Twelve Hotel and Nora Gill from The Claregalway Hotel.
The other winners on the night were Denise Hogan, Denise Hogan Designs (Communications & Arts category), Mary Mannion, MG Mannion & Co. Accountants (Financial Services), Lorna Maguire, All 3D Architectual Visualisations (Professional Services), and Liz Cassidy, Irish Time Design (Outstanding Woman in Business).
